Olly Barrett, our Construction Director and Amy Barrett, Office Manager were recently interviewed by Building Design and Construction Magazine.

The eight page article entitled ‘Setting the Bar Higher in Housebuilding’  published in November 2021, follows on from our recent accolade at this year’s National House Building Council (NHBC) awards when Carl Hess our Site Manager scooped the coveted Pride in the Job Award.

NHBC, the UK’s leading new homes warranty and insurance provider champions site managers who have achieved the very highest standards in housebuilding across the UK each year.

Carl was selected from a field of more than 10,000 site managers from across the country to take the Pride in the Job Award. 

Since Risby Homes was established in 1993 we remain committed to setting new benchmarks in housebuilding and are incredibly proud for Carl and our team to be the recipient of this coveted accolade.

Distinguished by our attention to detail, bespoke specification and high-quality, tailored homes, we’ve built a strong reputation over the last 28 years – a reputation that is built on embracing modern living, innovative technology, and sustainability.

While we’re no stranger to NHBC accolades, this one is particularly pleasing because not only does it reward the efforts of the team at Shepherd’s Rest, it champions our approach on what is our largest development so far – a 96 home development of two, three and four-bedroom homes in Beverley – which is successfully on track despite the unprecedented challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’re always striving for high standards and this award is recognition for the hard work of our teams and the way we approach our projects.

The NHBC Pride in the Job awards are one of the focal points on our calendar. This achievement provides us with a massive amount of satisfaction and a great deal of pride.

Carl’s experience in construction began with 15 years as a bricklayer. Now boasting 30 years’ site management experience, he takes tremendous pride in his work, ensuring the highest standards are achieved throughout the build process of all properties.

We take great pride in what we do. This award celebrates the important role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered safely, on time and to exacting construction quality standards. While this is an award for Carl, it’s also recognition of the entire team who work with him on the Shepherd’s Rest site.
